When I read the one paragraph especially, “we need more Jesus in our day-to-day lives, etc.,” it brought a memory. I came across a beautiful, large picture recently with lovely yellow flowers and in beautiful l script this – “In the morning when I rise, Give Me Jesus!” I thought of this picture throughout your post and just wanted to thank you!

I appreciate your heart for God!

I loved it a few days ago too and I really love the part about putting it all on God, it’s relieving the pressure of having to do it all, be it all, just try harder, bc damn it- I can do all things – at least I can through Christ who gives me strength. I have heard the celebrity talk you referenced and have fallen victim to that way of thinking bc it is coming from a Christian so it seems like I should be able to do it all bc I have Jesus in my back corner so I am good enough to handle everything. But Jesus never meant for me to handle everything. When I can remember to get out of His way, He handles it for me and I finally have someone to follow. He can show me how to be a better mama, better wife, better friend, I don’t want to do it all anymore.
Thank you for the reminder!

I haven’t read that, but now I want to!! I fully agree with you. I will say that this extremist movement has, at least, revealed this quiet struggle in myself. I think God has used this (and so. many. conversations about it) to show me that at my core, this pride is present. But buying into the message that it’s okay is so dangerous for our souls! I have REALLY been challenged by the book Humble Roots, and Keep A Quiet Heart. I’ll look for the CTB book too! Thank you!

I feel like this Girl Power/GIrl Boss/empower girls thing is a pendulum that has swung too far out! Somehow we’ve decided GET IT GIRRRL, is the best thing we can do instead of relying and reveling in the Lord’s power (and w/that don’t even know HOW to rely on Him!).

Have you read Corrie ten Boom’s Tramp for the Lord? She tells a story about going to Argentina to talk to some people in a hospital and she is so scared and feels so inadequate (CORRIE TEN BOOM! INADEQUATE!!). She tells the Lord, “No, I think I am unable to talk. I just want to go off somewhere and cry.” and the Lord tells her, “I know you can’t. I have known it already a long time. I am glad now you know it for yourself for now you can let Me do it.”

THIS is the attitude our hearts should take–I can’t do it Lord. I can’t do it! Please, do it for me.

Isn’t that what God did in battles for Israel–the LORD struck down the enemies?! The LORD went to battle for them?!

Anyway, I don’t have anything else to add–just I’m agreeing with you and am sad this was controversial. Hoping there hasn’t been any personal attacks on you! I know how even a simple negative comment can sting!
