They used to enjoy The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warren- 155 books in the series. Another was Hank the Cowdog by John R Erickson – 78 books in the series, though my Hoopla shows ebooks. We had them on casette tapes!

I can’t even explain the premise without writing an essay, it’s so off-the-wall! Alcatraz is a boy in the foster system that, while TRYING to be good, breaks everything. Until he comes to find out that it is actually a talent, passed on from his family. And yes, librarians are evil.

It is an extremely quirky and self-deprecating humor, written in a unique style that will keep you laughing and saying, “What?!” in equal measure. It is just a fun, bizarre, unique story that everyone will enjoy. And the audiobook does a great job with it
