I’ve chosen a word for the year, and I’ve refused to choose a word for the year. I’ve set goals and made plans based on what I’m feeling. But most of those things have […]

If you took your four focuses and introduced a new one each three months?

I’ve done it before, too, but because of where God had led me in my life, it just wasn’t something that applied to where I was later on in the year. I like the idea of a verse…in fact, I have a few verses in mind to focus on, not just for this year, but throughout my life. (similar to the verse you found) God takes us through so many places in the journey of our lives, We continue to grow and change.Having goals is great and we all need them. But, ultimately we need to let God have the steering wheel and say, “Where You lead, I will follow.” Thanks for sharing!!

I think I already shared the word on her blog, but my word for 2015 is also content. I look at the idea of choosing one word for a year as not necessarily a resolution something that I am going to work on, but rather something I am willing to give over to God and ask God to help me grow in. Almost like a prayer, in my case “God, I know I complain too much. I know it isn’t pleasing to you. It is discouraging to my husband, and sets a bad example for my kids. Teach me to be content.” Thank you for sharing the verse from Isaiah with us. I hope you have a lovely weekend. 🙂

Kudos for figuring out what works (and what doesn’t) for you and your family. That honestly will get you far in 2015. We did pick one word to focus on this year but it encompasses goals from many areas of our life. We chose ‘Simplicity’ and for us, we’re simplifying our budget, our schedule, our clutter, our entertainment, our household systems, and whatever else we feel led to change/work on in the New Year!

And I’m realizing that keeping my eyes on my circumstances is both holding me back from the healing I want, AND something I can change, with Christ’s help. I want to start looking to Him, listening to HIM before I look at the hard things. Filling my heart and my mind with things that are good instead of spending time and energy and money and calories on things that don’t satisfy.” I could have written these words myself. My word for the year is “content”. It’s not something I am pursuing, but rather a lesson the Lord desire to teach me. I hope I can be obedient on this journey. Happy New Year!
